VT Miltope relocates headquarters to Huntsville
HUNTSVILLE — VT Miltope will be working more closely with its military and corporate customers now that its headquarters have been relocated to Cummings Research Park in Huntsville.
With production facilities based in Hope Hull, Alabama, about 10 miles southwest of Montgomery, VT Miltope has been developing and producing rugged computers and systems used primarily by the United States military since 1975.
Kim Caudle Lewis, chair-elect of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce, introduced VT Miltope President and CEO Jack Haley at a ribbon cutting ceremony Sept. 12 at the new headquarters in Huntsville.
Haley, who has been with VT Miltope for about a year, praised its entire team of employees for the work they do.
“As I’ve been with them for a year and gotten to know them, it’s that service—and really, service to our nation that they see, that they perform each and every day—that’s led me to what I’d like to unveil: our new strategy and a campaign that’s called ‘Service Elevated,’” Haley said. “[VT] Miltope has always been rugged to the core, and we’re going to maintain that and enhance that, but we’re so much more than that.”
The Service Elevated campaign, as Haley described, will “take the company to a whole new level” both internally and externally. VT Miltope plans to accomplish this through the design, development, production and support they provide to their customers.
“It’s not only service-elevated, but it’s commitment-elevated,” Haley explained. “It’s performance-elevated. It’s rugged-elevated. It’s bandwidth-elevated. I will tell you, Huntsville is the perfect place for VT Miltope to kick off this campaign and our expansion.”
Haley praised Huntsville for being a “business-friendly” environment. He also noted Huntsville’s multitalented workforce. VT Miltope is starting in Huntsville at what Haley calls “initial operating capacity.” He said the company plans to reach full operational capacity by the end of October.
A special VT Miltope Huntsville coin was made to commemorate the event, which Haley showed to attendees.
Chairman Dale Strong of the Madison County Commission welcomed Haley and the VT Miltope team to Huntsville. Strong also commended the company for their commitment to helping the military and working more closely with Redstone Arsenal and other customers by choosing to make the Huntsville area its headquarters.
“We’ve got a great team here at the local level, at the state level and at the federal level, and that’s where we secure good success for our community, and our U.S. warfighter’s better because of it. … Madison County’s best days are still ahead,” Strong said.
Harrison Diamond, business relations officer for the city of Huntsville, echoed Strong’s welcoming remarks and expressed excitement for VT Miltope’s future growth in Huntsville.
“You talked about service elevated,” Diamond told Haley. “Well, today it’s community elevated, and we are very proud to have VT Miltope to be headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama.”
Following remarks, Lewis presented Haley with an official plaque before he cut the ribbon. According to Haley, VT Miltope plans to host a customer appreciation day “in the near future” through which they will showcase all of their products.
In addition to rugged computers, VT Miltope also specialized in servers, mass storage devices and network peripheral equipment. According to their website, mymiltope.com, these rugged computers and systems “are integral to planning and executing [military] missions.” The company is ISO 9001:2008, AS9100B, and ISO 14001:2004 registered.
VT Miltope is located at 7037 Old Madison Pike NW in Huntsville.
