Samlowski earns pharmacy degree at Auburn
MADISON – Tiana Lynne Samlowski of Madison has received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Harrison School of Pharmacy at Auburn University.
Samlowski graduated in the Class of 2010 at Bob Jones High School. In undergraduate study, she completed a bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2014.
Her parents are Ralph and Jana Samlowski.
Auburn’s Class of 2018 included 142 students receiving pharmacy degrees. Dr. Dell Barker Walker, a member of the Class of 1985, delivered the commencement address. Paul Paratore gave the student address. Auburn University President Dr. Steven Leath congratulated the graduates.
The class included representatives from seven foreign countries, including China, Egypt, India, Korea, Libya, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. Students’ homes are in 20 states, including Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.
Samlowski has accepted a full-time pharmacist position with Walgreens.
Educators and students in the Harrison School of Pharmacy host a summer pharmacy camp for youth on campus at Auburn. Students learn about numerous facets of the field, including compounding, sterile compounding, vital signs, medical devices and the various roles of a pharmacist.
In addition, the campers visited sites like Walgreens, CVS, East Alabama Medical Center and Nature Made’s Pharmavite plant.
Auburn’s school of pharmacy is ranked among the top 20 percent of all pharmacy schools in the United States, according to “U.S. News & World Report.” The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education has fully accredited the school. Auburn offers doctoral degrees in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, along with a master’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences.
