Volunteers make ‘Spruce Up Palmer Park’ a success
MADISON – A small army of determined volunteer youth and adults helped with the cleanup work during “Spruce Up Palmer Park.”
This workday was the second quarterly project for the JustServe.org organization to help the City of Madison. JustServe.org allows organizations to post needs for volunteers, while guiding people to locate a service need in the community.
At Palmer Park, more than 50 students and families scrubbed fences, cleaned bleachers, installed shades and field signs and cleaned buildings.
“A big shout-out of thanks to all who showed up, ready to lend a hand. Much more was accomplished than was expected,” Larsen said. “There is much more work yet to be performed at Palmer Park to get it ready for the season.”
On JustServe’s next workday at Palmer Park, coordinators “invite those who use the field or have noted issues to come help resolve them by pitching in their time and energy to Spruce Up Palmer Park, powered by the citizens and officials of Madison City,” Larsen said.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides justServe.org as a service to the community.
