What’s your opinion? Huntsville Hospital opens survey

MADISON COUNTY – The Huntsville Hospital Cancer Committee is conducting an anonymous and confidential survey to learn more about the health needs of people in the community.

The collected information will help hospital employees have better understanding of health needs in Huntsville, Madison and surroundings areas. The survey’s end goal is to improve the overall health of residents.

The survey requires about five minutes to complete and is formatted with multiple-choice answers.

To access the survey, visit huntsvillehospital.org/cancer-survey (or visit www.huntsvillehospital.org, click “Services,” click “Cancer Care” and click the block with the survey link.

Three different surveys are available that correlate to an individual’s history:

* No diagnosis of cancer.

* Diagnosed more than five years ago.

* Diagnosed less than five years ago.

The survey for “No diagnosis of cancer” starts with a page of demographic, multiple-choice questions, such as age, zip code, race and employment status. The next page asks the individual to tell about his or her health insurance, quality of health, education and income.

On the third page, the individual will indicate the amount of exercise completed in different timeframes, weight range and where and how often that the person received health care in the past year. The next page asks about dietary/meal choices, smoking and time in the sun. Then, the survey asks two questions about a colonoscopy.

The next page asks smokers about discussions with a doctor about CT scans. Then, the survey has questions about cancer detection and female medical care. Another page asks the person’s opinion on healthcare priorities and resources for help.

The last page wants to know about the person’s opinion on the best methods for cancer education.
