Whitt enters race for State House, District 6

MADISON COUNTY – Businessman and community leader Andy Whitt is seeking the Alabama House of Representatives, District 6 vacancy in the June 5, 2018 primary election.

Rep. Phil Williams has reconsidered his initial decision and will not run for re-election.

“I want to put my finance and business experience to work for the people of this district and our state,” Whitt said. “It’s time we do more with less, cut the wasteful spending and put hard-working families first.”

“Just like I run our community bank, I will make sure our state is held accountable and a check-and-balance system is in place. I will work hard to make sure we receive our fair share of support for our roads and schools. Moving our economy in the right direction is imperative. I will work hard with state and local leaders to bring more jobs and industries to North Alabama,” Whitt said.

“Last year was a tough time for our state. It’s time for conservative leadership, moral values and integrity. My life experiences have prepared me for this opportunity,” Whitt said.

Whitt and his family are lifelong Madison County residents. He and wife Jennifer have been married 20 years. Jennifer Whitt works as Assistant Principal at Sparkman Middle School.

The Whitt’s children are Grant and Emma Drew, both Sparkman students. The family attends Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Andy Whitt has compiled 20-plus years in the finance and banking industry. He works as Senior Vice President/Madison County Executive for First National Bank.

After graduating from Sparkman, Whitt studied at Calhoun Community College, Samford University’s CBAA program and Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. Whitt recently graduated from Huntsville/Madison County Leadership Program – “Focus 35.”

“I’m proud of community service that I have done over the years. Now, I want to do even more in public service by representing the good people of our district,” Whitt said.

Whitt has volunteered with Elkwood Village, Athens Rotary Club, The School Foundation, Ardmore and Athens chambers of commerce, Madison County Board of Education, Athens State University Foundation, Huntsville Rotary Club as “Paul Harris Fellow”, Committee of 100 and Huntsville/Madison County Builders Association.
