Bob Jones cadets build camaraderie in civic events
MADISON – Cadets in Air Force ROTC at Bob Jones High School build camaraderie by participating in extracurricular activities and civic events, like the Madison Christmas Parade.
The AFJROTC cadets marched in this year’s parade on “a chilly night enjoyed by many,” Retired Chief Master Sergeant Ellis Clark said. Clark works as aerospace science instructor at Bob Jones.
“This was the last parade for our seniors. Well done. You will be missed,” Clark said. Retired Lieutenant Colonel Randy Heard also leads AFJROTC at Bob Jones.
Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps or AFJROTC is a U.S. Air Force program to build citizenship and leadership in high school students. AFJROTC is not a military recruiting program, and students do not receive any military service obligation.
The premier Drill and Ceremony unit at Bob Jones participates in local and distant events and competes at the national level of competition. The unit’s activities are not always grounded in rigid formalities because cadets build camaraderie, leadership and teamwork while having fun in extracurricular outings.
Bob Jones Drill Team pursues competitive events throughout the central region. In addition, a marksmanship team meets weekly and uses Daisy 853 rifles for targeting.
