One new artist is Lori Connors, who designed, “Deck the Halls.” Her comical design shows a four-‘person’ musical combo of mice. The band’s name is The Stirrings, a reference to “T’was the Night Before Christmas” when not a creature was stirring … not even a mouse. The female lead mouse is wailing on vocals as the rock band plays.
Connors has created, taught and programmed art with Girl Scouts of North Alabama, Huntsville Art League, Osher Lifelong Learning and Fern Bell Recreation Center. She is a certified Zentangle instructor.
Katelyn Craft painted “Gingerbread House Christmas” for a nostalgic glimpse of a picture-perfect street decorated for the holidays. Icicles hang from the house’s roofs. Doors and windows have wreathes and gumdrops, and candy canes sprout in the yard.
A Madison native, Katelyn and husband Dwayne are parents of Kennedy and Barrett. Katelyn teaches art at Creekside primary and Creekside elementary schools in Limestone County.
JoAnna ‘Joey’ Fernandez’s painting, “Stormy ‘Grinch,'” shows the miserly green despicable one himself — The Grinch — gazing into a crystal ball at the Whos dancing around their Christmas tree. The Grinch’s not-so-sure pets accompany him.
A Madison resident for 12 years, Joey attended Bob Jones High school, graduated from Madison Academy and currently is a senior at Athens State University (Alabama Center for the Arts) studying studio arts. Joey works at Hogan Family YMCA as a membership representative. Her uses ‘Stormy’ to portray herself as a cartoon character.
Miranda Hite’s “Super Hero Christmas” was inspired by her children and husband who love comic book characters. A self-taught taught artist, she was born in rural West Virginia and moved to Alabama in 2012.
Hite enjoys creating whimsical characters with vibrant colors and personalized pieces. She has participated in numerous North Alabama craft shows and festivals.
