Heritage students learn about military life

MADISON – To commemorate Veterans Day, students at Heritage Elementary School assembled on Nov. 7 to listen to presentations from an all-woman panel of military enlistees.

“The audience also heard student presentations on the branches of service, capped by discussions on the freedoms we enjoy because of veterans,” John Peck said. Peck is Public Relations Manager for Madison City Schools.

Angela Holmes, Michelle Sanner and Erin Debaun with a collective 70 years of active duty spoke to the Heritage students. They briefly explained their jobs, discussed the commitment that a person must have to serve and their gratitude to serve their country.

One of the veterans said her child has attended 12 different schools during the 14 moves the family has made from reassignments.
