HUNTSVILLE – Avion Unmanned has completed the long-awaited launch of its online training portal for Unmanned Aircraft Systems.

The Unmanned Aircraft Systems Training Team worked many hours in design to expand the quality training in self-paced remote training for law enforcement and commercial enterprises about appropriate and legal ways to fly drones.

The training complies with Federal Aviation Administration unmanned craft regulations.

Backed by more than 20 years’ experience, Avion’s portal uses the cloud-based TalentLMS, or Learning Management System, in collaboration with seasoned aviation instructors. The training includes courses in aircraft systems, aerodynamics, flight control software, weather, airspace and other categories on the Part 107 Remote Pilot Exam.

The five-day, in-person training course is split between classroom and flight time. The online portal allows students to experience the same proven training criteria used to educate law enforcement and public agencies across North Alabama and Tennessee.

Avion Unmanned is leading the push for safety standards and quality training that will support the long-term growth and adoption of UAS by modern industry.

“The only way to be effective with a tool is to be properly trained how to use it,” Taylor Abington said. Abington works as Avion’s Program Manager for Unmanned Aircraft Systems. “By enrolling in Avion’s online training, you are sure to be trained to operate your unmanned craft legally, effectively and, most importantly, safely.”

Dan Carbone is a retired U.S. Army Maintenance Test Pilot/Instructor Pilot for the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter platform. Carbone has spearheaded efforts to make the training comprehensive, relevant and available at a competitive price.

“This is the first opportunity for commercial and public groups in the civilian market to experience this caliber of comprehensive learning,” Carbone said.

Avion Unmanned is also eyeing customizations to the standard training packages to solve needs for aerial photography for construction, mapping and photogrammetry, specific aircraft platforms and programs that will only be available to police and emergency response units.
