MADISON – Chanda Crutcher, founder of American Senior Assistance Programs (ASAP), will present “Navigating Eldercare Resources” at Madison Public Library.
The free workshop is scheduled on Nov. 7 at 6 p.m.
ASAP is a care management firm for aging life. “Our top priority at ASAP is to help your loved one live as independently as possible while still being safe and secure. The 65-plus age group is the fastest growing demographic in the United States, with over 10,000 people turning 65 and older each day,” Crutcher said.
At the library workshop, Crutcher will discuss different levels of care available to seniors, how they qualify and who pays for each. Because open enrollment is approaching, Crutcher will discuss Medicaid and Medicare, giving emphasis to Part D.
The session will open with a statement about the current state of healthcare. Crutcher will discuss transition of care for seniors and ways to avoid ineffective transitions.
In considering levels of care that an individual needs, Crutcher will review in-home care versus institutional facilities. Also, participants will study the question of community resources and the availability of payment options and websites that can offer valuable information.
The “Navigating Eldercare Resources” session will conclude with a question-and-answer session.
Crutcher established ASAP on four value pillars: integrity, experience, faith and knowledge. She was Huntsville’s first certified geriatric case manager and Alabama’s first registered guardian.
Crutcher has served on Regional Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Mid-South Chapter and Governor’s Alzheimer’s Task Force in 2014.
She has witnessed worst-case scenarios for the elderly due to lack of proper planning and advocacy. ASAP assists older and disabled adults to live in the least restrictive environment, preserve their assets and enjoy the highest quality of life.
“For anyone who is unable to make the presentation or simply wants to stay on top of the latest news and research as it pertains to eldercare, ASAP’s website has a dynamic e-library. It’s free at letstalkasap.com,” ASAP Health Literacy Specialist Katy Disher said.
