‘Nightmare on Skate Street’ promises Halloween fun

MADISON – Insanity Complex and the City of Madison have collaborated to host a family-oriented party, “Nightmare on Skate Street,” on Halloween night, Oct. 31.
The event’s name pays tribute to the frightening horror movie, “Nightmare on Elm Street. ” The Madison event debuted in 2015. For 2016, Regions Bank also is a sponsor.
Insanity Complex, 100 Skate Park Drive, is hosting the event. From 5 to 8 p.m., youngsters can trick or treat for candy and treats at decorated vehicles and tables in designated locations.
Individuals and businesses are encouraged to decorate booths in a Halloween theme or their vehicles to have ‘spooktacular’ trunks and distribute candy and business cards.
Vendors can register for a free booth or table, first-come, first-serve basis. Setup will start at 4 p.m., and tables must be fully operational by 5:30 p.m.
Games and activities at Nightmare on Skate Street will be open from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Youngsters can register to enter a costume contest at 7:30 p.m.
Insanity Complex will offer special prices on all venues, including main building admission specials and discounts on miniature golf, batting cages and skateboard park.
In addition, boys and girls can enter numerous contests and games to vie for prizes.
People in costume cannot carry items that resemble weapons or objects that are made of wood, metal, cardboard or hard plastic. A parent must accompany a child younger than 16 years old.
Police officers and private security will be onsite during the event.
In conjunction with the party, the city is sponsoring a haunted house dubbed “Mad Al’s House of Horrors.” On Halloween night, the haunted house will be open from 6 to 9 p.m.
“Mad Al’s House Horrors is North Alabama’s best haunted house,” Gayle Milam said. “With more than 20 wicked scenes, this haunted house is sure to make you scream!” Milam works as Event and Volunteer Coordinator for the City of Madison.
