Izatt in concert on Aug. 19
MADISON – Richard Izatt will perform a free, classical piano concert on Aug. 19.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1297 Slaughter Road in Madison will host Izatt’s concert at 6 p.m. The program will consist of Bach’s “Prelude and Fugue #10 in E minor,” Beethoven’s “Piano Sonata in C major, Opus 2, No. 3,” two Chopin preludes and Faure’s “Clair de Lune.”
Izatt has been selected to compete in the Chicago Amateur Piano Competition on Aug. 23-26. The two-round competition includes 29 performers from across the United States, as well as natives of Belgium, Taiwan, Canada, Chile, Japan, Italy, Latvia and China.

Izatt has been a resident of Huntsville and Madison for 32 years. Now retired, he worked as a software engineer at TRW, Metamor and Schafer Corporation.
He studied the piano from first grade through the second year of college at l’Ecole de Musique de l’Universite Laval in Quebec City. He also participated in a New England Conservatory of Music competition when he was 15 years old.
He frequently has accompanied church music on piano and organ and was a church choir director for 15 years.
