Clark seeks re-election as District 6 Councilman
MADISON – Gerald Clark is seeking re-election as District 6 Councilman for Madison City Council.
Clark said he is dedicated to an improved Madison and has shown leadership with his work since 2012 representing District 6 and Madison citizens.
Communication has been very important and he regularly takes time to hear citizens’ voices and concerns, Clark said. His personal goal is to respond quickly when citizens contact him and then address each request.
“The needs of the people far outweigh any personal agendas,” Clark said. “I see no place for personal agendas in city government.”
“I believe in listening to the people, working with them toward a common goal of making Madison a better city. While on council, I have weighed decisions with the best interest of the citizens of Madison in mind,” Clark said.
Clark has often said, “There are wants, and there are needs.” “I believe the city’s needs are more important than personal wants.”
In 2012, Clark ran on a five-point plan, which he will continue to enact:
* Low taxes.
* Financial accountability.
* Road and infrastructure improvements.
* Policies and procedures improvement.
* Transparent customer service in City Hall for individuals and business.
Clark’s motto is “It’s about Madison – Balancing the wants and the needs for the city.”
A lifelong resident of Madison County, Clark graduated from Johnson High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Auburn University. He holds an Alabama professional license as a landscape architect.
During his 25-year career, he has completed numerous landscape plans and civil engineering for projects like Huntsville’s first Publix, Aldridge Creek and Flint River Greenways and Madison Hospital.
He and wife Tina have two sons: Phillip, 2016 graduate of Bob Jones High School, who plans to join the U.S. Army to pursue his dream as an Army Aviator, and William, who attends Horizon Elementary School.
Clark has served on Madison Beautification and Tree Board, Madison City Disability Advocacy Board, Madison Utilities board and Madison Municipal Cemeteries Committee.
“I spent many hours working with boards to ensure communication between council and citizens,” Clark said.
