‘Trains on Main’ speeding in downtown
MADISON – The Trains on Main Scavenger Hunt was officially ‘left the station.’
The launch of the tourism campaign was held at the Roundhouse in downtown Madison on June 9. The Madison Chamber of Commerce and Huntsville-Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau collaborated on the venture.
Participants will ‘hunt’ for nine bronze trains that are permanently placed in various locations in downtown Madison. Clue cards are available at the chamber office at 130 Park Square Lane in Hogan Family YMCA or at City Hall, 100 Hughes Road.
“Two of our longtime, historic area residents, Charlie Nola and Beverly Young, were instrumental in developing the clues you all will be trying to figure out,” Debbie Overcash said. Overcash is President of Madison Station Historical Preservation Society.
“The Roundhouse, a replica of the original train station, is another link to Madison’s past,” Overcash said.
After finishing the scavenger hunt, participants will bring their completed clue card to the Madison Chamber of Commerce to receive a prize, chamber executive director Pam Honeycutt said.
