MADISON – Madison Optimist Club presented a check for $500 to Cub Scout Pack 8 of Monrovia at the Pack’s Blue and Gold Banquet.

Madison Optimists sponsor Pack 8 and participate as judges at the annual Pinewood Derby and dessert contest. Optimist President Scott Piro said, “Judging the dessert competition is more difficult than it seems because the Cubs really go all out for taste and appearance.”

“Second or even third tasting is often required. At least, that’s what some of the Optimists were overheard to say during the judging,” Piro said.

Madison Optimist Club is a civic organization that conducts events in support of the Madison area’s young citizens in their effort to become productive members of society.

The club meets monthly on first and third Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at Picasso’s Grill, 12060 County Line Road. For more information, call 256-772-8148 or 256-461-8787.
