Hall promotes library, reading and education
Why I Love This Town
MADISON – Upon moving to Madison in 1989, Cindy Hall and her family found a sleepy little town with only two grocery stores.
“I love Madison because I have seen it grow … to a city with all a family needs while still retaining its small-town friendly character,” Cindy said. “Madison is a great mix of people from all walks of life who share and value their mutual hometown.”
A native of Iowa, Hall was born in Webster City and grew up on her family’s farm near Boone. Also in Iowa, she graduated from Ogden Community High School and Faith Baptist College in Ankeny.
The Hall family moved to Madison in 1989. “We had visited several times on work trips for my husband and thought this would be a great area to rear our family,” she said.
She and husband Charles have three sons. Justin and wife Jeannie are parents of five-month-old Ellery. They live in Greenville, S.C., as does brother Calvin. Cameron and wife Caitlin live in Meridianville.
Well respected in education circles, Cindy works as director of the Dyslexia Center at Lindsay Lane Christian Academy in Athens.
“I have been on the board of the Madison Friends of the Library for many years. I greatly enjoy Madison Street Festival and have helped with the Friends of the Library booth many times,” Cindy said.
She is a past member of Madison Arts Council. “I have been active in my church, Calvary Baptist Church, for the 25 years we have been members,” Cindy said.
When she has spare time, Cindy enjoys working in her yard and flower gardening and often shares cuttings with friends. She like to walk her dogs in their neighborhood and, not surprisingly, reading.
