Roger Burkman January 14, 1929 – October 6, 2015

Roger Amil Burkman, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6th.

Roger Burkman graduated from Harlem High School in Rockford, Illinois. His life was symbolized through his love and devotion to his family and friends. Roger always brought a smile to everyone he met. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for Barber Coleman as an engineer for over 30 years before retiring and moving to Orange Beach, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his son Bradley Burkman; parents, Amil and Alice Burkman; brothers, Bill Burkman, John Warden; sisters, Margaret Schoonover, Vi Schoonover.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Darlene Perkins Burkman; children, daughter, Debi Kiser (Mike); son, Larry Burkman (Julie); six grandchildren, Jaime Leaman, Jimmy Leaman, Ashley Leaman, Brian Burkman, Matthew Burkman, Bradley Burkman and great-grandson, Semrow Leaman.

Visitation was from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 11 at Asbury United Methodist Church, with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at the church.
