Disney characters visit Sci-Quest
HUNTSVILLE – Two popular Disney characters will make their way to Sci-Quest Hands-on Science Center for a special visit on Sept. 12.
Doc McStuffins and Handy Manny will visit with guests during a pancake breakfast for families. The breakfast will start at 8 a.m.
From the children’s television series on Disney Channel, Dottie ‘Doc’ McStuffins is a girl who wants to be a doctor like her mother. To prepare for her career, Doc McStuffins performs ‘surgery’ to repair toys. Doc’s stuffed animals assist in ‘surgery.’
Also on Disney Channel, Handy Manny (a pun on the phrase ‘handy man’) lives in Sheetrock Hills. Handy owns a repair shop and does his work with a set of tools that talk.
“Families will get an exclusive opportunity to meet Doc McStuffins and Handy Manny after breakfast,” Sci-Quest Development/Marketing Director Jennifer Deermer said. “Both characters will be on-hand for a variety of fun family-friendly activities including pictures, crafts and activities based on these Disney characters.”
In addition, Home Depot is sponsoring a kids’ workshop. Children will receive free activity kits and aprons, while supplies last.
“Children are also encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animals,” Deermer said. “This event is appropriate for children two to five years old.”
This event also will launch “Sprouting Scientists,” Sci-Quest’s weekly science program for toddlers and preschoolers. Sprouting Scientists is held on Tuesdays for toddlers who are two or three years old with an adult caregiver, along with four- and five-year-old preschoolers.
Tickets are $10 for Sci-Quest members, $12 for non-members. Children younger than two years old will be admitted free. Tickets include admission, food and activities. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 9:30 a.m. with activities lasting until 11 a.m.
Participants must pre-register for this event. To pre-register, visit sci-quest.org or call 256-837-0606.
