Eichman, Patton perform at gazebo
MADISON – This week’s audience at the Madison Gazebo Concert on July 16 will experience sounds of two unique artists, guitarist Robbie Eichman and down-and-dirty blues by Ric Patton & the Chickenbone Reunion Band.
Madison Arts Council sponsors this free and laid-back summer concert series on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at the gazebo on Front Street.
Solo Indie rock guitarist Robbie Eichman of Huntsville records on the Dirrty Apple Records label. Music by The Beatles has been a big influence for Eichman, along with artists like The Hold Steady, Toy Shop, Fountains of Wayne, The Burnt Fork Experience, Floyd and “anyone who ever inadvertently inspired a song. Good, or bad,” he said.
For his music’s aura, Eichman uses loop pedals, guitar, tambourine and harmonica for a blend that’s “iconic and surprising,” he said. He has been named one of the top three vocalists in the Tennessee Valley.
Eichman revitalizes the classics in a take of his own, along with delivering memorable original compositions. Pleas for an encore are frequent at his concerts.

Ric Patton & the Chickenbone Reunion Band got their start at a surprise birthday party at Patton’s farm in Triana. He was ‘on to’ the party and invited several longtime friends, including “old musicians, fakers, shakers and hustlers,” Patton stated on his website.
After the party, Patton’s jam musician friends wanted to continue their good Delta blues. “I just didn’t think we had what it took to stick together. I remember saying the chances were better to shoot the moon with a BB gun than to get anywhere with this group of ‘Ole Skool misfits,” Patton said about his mistaken first impression.

“Each week, a different MAC partner will host a free activity for the younger crowd,” MAC President Beth Ridgeway said. “It’s always changing and always fun. Plus, well behaved and leashed canines are welcomed, too.”
