Award-winning team and community

From The Publisher

The Alabama Press Association recently honored The Madison Record. We received first place in General Excellence, which is the top award earned in each division of the annual Better Newspaper Contest.

This was a very special moment for our staff because it was a first in our history. We are overwhelmed with joy and humbled to have met this milestone achievement.

This accomplishment is completely attributed to a total team effort. The Madison Record is blessed with outstanding people.  Nick Sellers, Tammy Overman, Kim Maracigan, Gregg Parker, Lindsay Vaught, Jamie Dawkins, Robyn Holm, Layken Gibbs, Amanda Porter, Kristy Brown, Alison James, Jackie Locklin and Jen Fouts-Detulleo make up this award-winning team.

I am proud to be amongst this talented group daily.

A few additional honors earned by our staff include: Best Lifestyles/ Family Pages, Best Local Education Coverage, Best Local News Coverage and Best Newspaper Website.

It was wonderful to be recognized for our digital efforts, too.

We are very thankful for the support of our community. Madison is a wonderful place to live and work.

We never run out of great story ideas, and our key community leaders and city officials are always available for contact.

The contributions by our readers in Madison also share the credit of these great honors.

We are always looking for ways to improve the quality of our publications. We depend on our readers to share ideas on how to better serve our community. Please feel free to send content suggestions to news@themadisonrecord.com.

Thank you, Madison, for allowing us to serve you.
