Inspiring our children

From The Publisher

Moms and dads are both equally great, but this week is all about dad.

I am fortunate to have a wonderful father. He always provided for my family and supported me as I grew into an adult. He is now a terrific grandfather.

That’s a blessing – to have positive role models at home to help shape young lives. As we celebrate our fathers this week, let’s also consider the children who are without parental figures.

Lee Marshall, founder of Kids to Love Foundation, helps connect kids with loving foster parents. Her nonprofit agency is making tremendous strides to help children find positive influences.

Nick Sellers recently reported “since its inception in 2004, Kids to Love has impacted more than 175,000 foster children and sees that number rising almost exponentially with the new facility.”

He added, “The primary focus of the foundation’s new center (in Huntsville) is to help area foster children meet life expectations and gain technical skills in the real world.”

Lee Marshall, her staff and volunteers are doing amazing work.

Their efforts go beyond seeking foster families for kids waiting for permanent homes. Kids to Love also offers services such as school supply drives, Bible donations and “Christmas for Kids” that are meant to make a foster child’s Christmas wish list come true.

All of us deserve and desire guidance and love from a parental figure in our lives.

Lee Marshall and the Kids to Love Foundation are making this a reality for many area children today.
