Howard at Harvest wins Homewood essay contest
HARVEST – Kloe Howard, a fifth-grader at Harvest Elementary School, has won the seventh annual essay contest sponsored by Homewood Suites by Hilton -Village of Providence.
Howard addressed the 2015 theme, “Why My Teacher Deserves a Weekend Getaway,” by writing a tribute piece for her teacher, Robin McConnell at Harvest elementary.
On May 20, Homewood Suites General Manager Tricia Gonterman, Director of Sales Ashley Polesak and mascot Lewis the Duck visited Harvest to present awards to Howard. “Lewis gets so excited to help present the awards, shake his tail feathers and get his picture taken with numerous students and teachers,” Polesak said.
“For Kloe’s creativeness, grammar and ability to depict what a wonderful teacher Mrs. McConnell is, her essay was chosen as the winner over 100 essays submitted by students at Huntsville, Madison and Madison County schools,” Polesak said.
Howard received a complimentary weekend night stay at Homewood Suites, $50 gift certificate to Mellow Mushroom and Lewis the Duck goodies. McConnell was awarded a complimentary stay at Homewood Suites, $100 gift certificate to Grille 29 and gift card to Brittany Rose at Platinum Salon.
