Madison police arrest two for meth manufacturing

An early morning traffic stop on April 9 yielded two arrests for meth manufacturing out of Country Hearth Inn in Madison.
According to a release by the Madison Police Department, Cory Melton, 26, of Deatsville, Ala., was stopped on Madison Boulevard for a routine traffic stop when officers discovered an “active methamphetamine lab” in the vehicle Melton was driving.
Officers in the investigation were led to a room at the Country Hearth Inn, where they discovered materials used to make meth. Inside the room was Jeffrey Isbell, 41, of Athens.
Isbell and Melton were charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance – Melton in the first degree, Isbell in the second degree. Melton was also charged with possession of a controlled substance .
Melton was booked in the Madison County Jail at 6:04 a.m. on April 9 on bonds totaling $7,500. Isbell was booked at 7:01 a.m. on a $5,000 bond.
