Consider blood donation
From The Publisher
Madison’s blood is in great demand.
Please do not be alarmed; there is not a pack of teenage vampires roaming the streets of our city.
This immediate need is for a greater good and it may possibly save your neighbor’s life.
LifeSouth Community Blood Centers have issued several emergency calls to action for blood donations in the past few months.
Donating blood is a tremendous act of selflessness and bravery.
I can remember my dad donating blood regularly and setting a good example for my brother and me to follow.
Those in our community who already set this same example should be applauded, but they need our help, too.
Type O blood is in critical demand now, but I am confident that LifeSouth will welcome all blood donors.
Gregg Parker has made an excellent effort of keeping The Madison Record and Madison County Record readers informed about the LifeSouth blood shortages.
Parker shared in a current feature, “LifeSouth is a 501(c) 3 non-profit community blood supplier for more than 100 hospitals in Alabama, Florida and Georgia. As a ‘community blood center,’ LifeSouth provides the blood supply collected from donors directly to the needs of patients in the community.”
These blood drive efforts directly impact Madison by filling the demands of our citizens at home.
For information on community blood drives, call LifeSouth toll-free at 888-795-2707 or 256-533-8246. You can also visit Lifesouth.org for additional information.
Giving blood is one way we can give back to our community. It is a personal choice that can make a life or death difference.
