YMCA to host Yellowstone adventure session on Thursday
MADISON – Hogan Family YMCA at 130 Park Square Lane will host an information session on March 19 about the Yellowstone Adventure and Service Teen Leadership Development program.
At 7 p.m., the meeting will introduce high school students to the Yellowstone program, scheduled July 21 through Aug. 2. YMCA membership is not required.
Heart of the Valley YMCA is seeking a select group of outstanding teens to participate in the program, offered for the first time this summer. High school students who have completed grades 9-12 are eligible.
“Whether exploring the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, hiking to the summit of Mount Washburn, whitewater rafting on the Yellowstone River or studying the animals of the remote Lamar Valley, teens will develop lifelong friendships, leadership skills and a deeper understanding of the natural world around them,” director of communications Mary Anne Swanstrom said.
Applicants must complete an application, reference forms and an interview. They also must complete 20 hours of volunteer service through the YMCA.
The YMCA is the nation’s leading nonprofit organization, strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Heart of the Valley YMCA serves Madison, Morgan, Limestone, Jackson and Marshall counties and operates three membership branches, three child development centers and one resident camp.
