Broadway Theatre League to present ‘Peter and the Starcatcher’
HUNTSVILLE – A Tony winner, the next show in Broadway Theatre League’s season’s will be “Peter and the Starcatcher,” a prequel to the Peter Pan story.
The swashbuckling show won five Tony Awards in 2012 and was named one of the Top 10 Shows of 2012 by “The New York Times,” “The New Yorker” and “New York Magazine.”
Based on Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson’s best-selling novel, “Peter and the Starcatcher” provides a back story of humor and fantasy for Peter Pan and his arch-nemesis, Captain Hook.
The cast takes a romp through the Neverland that audiences never knew. A poor, orphaned child, simply called ‘Boy,’ faces a sad and lonely world. However, his life is turned upside down when he meets Molly, daughter of famous Starcatcher Lord Astor.
Molly is on a mission to save the world and protect a treasure trunk from the evil and greedy pirate Black Stache. Travelling aboard the “Neverland” ship, Molly and Boy learn about love and friendship and forge an unbreakable bond.
Performances in the Mark C. Smith Concert Hall at the Von Braun Center are scheduled for March 6 at 8 p.m.; March 7, 2 and 8 p.m.; and March 8, 2 and 7:30 p.m.
