Bob Jones interns witness success of prosthetics
MADISON – Biomedical interns from Bob Jones High School witnessed nothing short of a modern-day medical miracle recently.”We were very lucky to see someone walk for the first time in 20 years with their new prosthetic leg at Fourroux Prosthetics,” Bob Jones teacher Melinda Lawson said.
These students are enrolled in third-year biomedical classes at Bob Jones. Their visit to Fourroux was “a real-world application of a lesson in the third-year class where they build a prosthetic arm with craft supplies” and study orthotics, Lawson said.
Lawson, a registered nurse, chairs the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Medical Academy at Bob Jones.
Fourroux Prosthetics’ address is 2743 Bob Wallace Ave. in Huntsville. For more information, visit fourrouxprosthetics.com.
