Wall-Triana bridge project completion delayed

Madison residents will now have to wait a month longer to access the entirety of Wall-Triana Highway. Originally set to be completed at the end of September, the completion date has been pushed to the end of October.
Mayor Troy Trulock announced on his Facebook page Aug. 21 that he received news the day prior of a redesign of the retaining wall on the bridge project. The bridge goes over Mill Creek and closed the road south of Eastview Drive and north of Brownsferry Road for repairs in June. The bridge was built in 1935, Trulock said, and had become dangerous.
“This is unfortunate news but I am thankful that this two lane bridge, built in 1935, is being replaced with a new 3 lane bridge,” Trulock wrote on his page.
Once completed, the bridge will feature a safer design and a walking path to Bob Jones High School from the neighborhoods adjacent to the project.
