Downtown Rescue Mission to sponsor ‘Run to Rescue 5k’ in Madison
MADISON – The Downtown Rescue Mission will present their fourth Annual “Run to Rescue 5k” on Aug. 9.
Runners will gather at 8 a.m. on the starting line at Bob Jones High School, 650 Hughes Road. “Run or walk with us on Aug. 9,” mission director of development and volunteers Corey Buckner said.
“As in years past, the race marshals and timing will be conducted by the track and cross-country teams and coaches at Bob Jones,” Buckner said. This year’s revised course is a mixture of pavement and trails near the Bob Jones campus.
Participants must register for the run online at imathlete.com/runtorescue5k. All participants will receive a cotton T-shirt. Anyone who registers before July 18 will have the option to purchase a neon, dry-tech event T-shirt for an additional $5.
Registration fee is $25 through Aug. 2. Fee for late registration on Aug 3-6 is $30.
Runners can pick up race packets at Fleet Feet Sports Huntsville on Friday, Aug. 8 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Runners cannot register during packet pickup or on race day.
The “Run to Rescue 5k” will have divisions for age groups from infant to 9 years old, 10 to 19 years old, using this interval through 69 years old.
A separate category will include anyone 70 years and older. The masters division includes anyone 40 years and older.
“Thank you for helping us fight hunger and homelessness throughout northern Alabama and southern Tennessee,” Buckner said.
Sponsors include Bentley Automotive Group, Fleet Feet Sports, Asbury United Methodist Church, Chick-fil-A, Bender’s Gym, Earth Fare and Haven Baptist Church.
