Artwork by Gomez, Risher and Rudd recognized at Redstone Arsenal
MADISON – Three students at Discovery Middle School were winners in an art contest to recognize Hispanic Heritage Month.
First-place winner Annika Gomez, Kiara Risher in second place and Jordan Rudd in third designed the honored artwork. Hispanic Heritage Month at Redstone Arsenal is one example of the ethnic observance programs that promote diversity and inclusion within the community.
“The portraits we received have further proven that children are putting forth efforts to explore innovative opportunities to express their place within our society,” Sgt. Jason B. Cundiff said.
Gomez, Risher and Rudd were honored at a program on Sept. 26 in the Sparkman Center’s Bob Jones Auditorium on Redstone Arsenal. Soldiers, civilians and relatives in the audience enjoyed cultural displays, food tasting and dance performances.
