Party for Paws to benefit homeless pets … with a little help from Elvis
HUNTSVILLE – Guests will show they won’t be cruel by attending TLC Animal Organization’s ninth annual Party for Paws. Even Elvis will approve.
Part for Paws at the Huntsville Depot Roundhouse will run from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 27.
“The price of admission is a donation from the heart,” director Sandra Camp said. “Come out and have some great fun, hear great music and have great food. Best of all, you’re helping us save lives.”
TLC Animal Organization is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster-based animal rescue. The organization finds safe, quality homes for household pets that are orphaned or abandoned.
Dinner from Dreamland Bar-B-Que and Popeye’s Chicken will be served from 6 to 7 p.m. Raffle tickets for $2 will give guests a chance at a recliner from Ashley Furniture, a $400 driver from The Golf Shop, wine baskets and numerous other items.
For entertainment, Skylar Linderson will open, followed by his father, Dr. Samuel Linderman, performing a medley of Elvis Presley tunes. “We’ll get about an hour of the best songs of Elvis,” Camp said.
“One of the great stories about this party is that Dr. Linderson is getting to perform at all. In the spring, Dr. Linderson was diagnosed with stage four cancer. Then, Skylar lost his wife of four months in an automobile accident. It was a horrific time,” Camp said.
A few months, Camp and Linderman spoke. “The first thing he wanted to know was when he could sing and help the animals,” she said.
Party for Paws proceeds will pay for spays and neuters, shots and emergency care. In recent weeks, TLC Animal Organization received a $20,000 grant from the Jane K. Lowe Charitable Foundation.
