Thomas Joseph Beckman; June 2, 2013
Thomas Joseph Beckman, 84, of Madison, passed away Sunday, June 2 at his residence.
Thomas was born in Dalton, Ga. Dec. 2, 1928 to William H. Beckman and Emma Ruth Coker Beckman. He served his country as an Air Force PFC in the 340th Bomb Squad, 97th Bomb Group from Oct. 1947 to Aug. 1949. His claim to fame was being a boxer during his youth along with two of his brothers, Bob and Bill.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ola Joyce (Bishop) Beckman; three daughters and son-in-laws, Cecilia and Mike Luna, Eva and Eric Ristow and Ava and Rick Nityschke; two grandchildren, Jessica and Bill Johnson and Jonathan and Sara Luna; one great-grandchild, Donald Ewald; and one step-great-grandchild, Tommy Childers; several brothers, sisters numerous nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.
A celebration of Thomas’s life will be held Wednesday, June 5 at Berryhill Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 4 until 5 p.m. followed by a Memorial Chapel service at 5 p.m.
