Who knew? Bingo goes to Doctor Who at library tonight
Teens can start the New Year at Madison Public Library with an out-of-this-world version of a classic numbers game. “Doctor Who Bingo” will start tonight at 6 p.m. The event is free.
“We use the same rules as normal Bingo,” youth services librarian Maggie Allen said. Instead of numbers, the player cards have phrases, characters and actions from the TV series’ episodes. “Line up five things and you win.”
Allen considers the writing for Doctor Who “brilliant and surprising. It’s capable of being funny, campy and intensely sad all at the same time. About every two years, the continual reinvention of the doctor (with new actors playing Who and changes in Doctor’s personality) keeps fans on their toes.”
Viewers and readers never tire of the Doctor’s companions. “They change every so often as well. The setting and possibilities for plot lines are endless when you imagine all of time and the universe.”
Prizes will be awarded at Doctor Who Bingo “but the thrill should be the game,” Allen said.
