Bridge project on Balch Road complete

The bridge replacement project on Balch Road over Knox Creek is now complete, and the bridge is open for use, according to the Madison County Commission.

The project began in December and widened the bridge from 24 feet to 36 feet. The state paid for 80 percent of the $1.2 million project, and Madison County District 4 Commissioner Dale Strong’s budget paid 20 percent.

Some 4,000 vehicles travel the bridge on Balch Road between Knox Creek Trace and Mitchell Street daily, according to the Madison County Commission.
