Tdap vaccine required for sixth-graders in 2012-2013 school year
Alabama students who are 11 years or older entering sixth grade during the 2012-2013 school year must have a dose of the tetanus-diphtheria/pertussis (Tdap) vaccine.
By law, the Alabama Department of Public Health requires the vaccine. The rule does not apply to students younger than 11 years in sixth grade. Shots are available from the child’s doctor or the Madison County Health Department, while supplies last.
Parents or guardians must provide an updated Blue Immunization Card documenting this vaccination before classes resume on Aug. 7. For more information, call the school nurse at your child’s school in Madison.
