Significant severe weather threat Friday

A moderate risk for severe weather for our area

The SPC has placed much of North Alabama including Madison County in a “moderate risk” of severe weather for Friday and Friday night, and the probabilities are very high within that risk area. They suggest there is a 45 percent chance of severe weather within 25 miles of any point. The pattern is complex, so exact timing is difficult and with temperatures expected to rise into the 75 to 80 degree range tomorrow afternoon in some areas, we might see thunderstorms developing as early as midday. The main window for severe weather in our area looks to be Friday afternoon and evening and it will continue into early Saturday morning. Make sure you have a severe weather plan in place as well as one or two ways to receive severe weather warnings.
