15 HOSA students headed to national competition

Students from the medical academy at Bob Jones High School recently made a fine showing at the State HOSA Leadership Conference (Health Occupation Students of America).

From 22 Bob Jones students that entered competition, 15 students qualified to compete in the national contest in June.

Two teams earned first-place honors. Annie Kovach, Emily Montoya, Timber Wulf, Ramya Molleti and Sandhya Kirshna won for their public service announcement. DeJarra Johnson, Baylee Driggers and David Lee took first place for creative problem solving.

Raymond Lopes received second-place honors for biotechnology. Patrick Buszka, Grace Cooper, Ryan Lopez and Lakshmi Subramani were second-place winners for biomedical debate.

Wes Hess and Hannah Osterndorf received second place for forensic medicine.
