Women can nurture creativity in upcoming workshops

Mimi Ezell believes all women can awaken the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ in their lives.

Ezell will present her Creative Connection Workshop at 16 Main Gallery on April 12, May 17 and June 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Ezell hopes participants will discover more about their creative ability. “We need to take time to develop this skill and take it to the workplace or volunteer situation,” she said.

“I call it, ‘Awakening the Sleeping Beauty within,'” Ezell said.

The workshop targets empty nesters, recent divorcees and individuals who are changing jobs. “Some say there’s something missing in my life but I don’t know what it is … there has to be more,” Ezell said.

Women often ignore their creative flair because they care for everyone else and forget about themselves. “Creativity is a time to recharge our batteries,” Ezell said. “We must take care of ourselves in order to take care of others.”

During the workshop, participants will complete “20 creative affirmations. Then, we’ll work on a creativity vision poster and talk about that piece of art to understand it more,” she said.

In 2006, Ezell founded Life by Design as a life coaching service for women experiencing transition. She helps women “take their life to another level.” She meets with a client in two sessions per month. She interviews the client to gain thorough information, and the client then leaves with homework to meet her goals or expectations.

Mimi and husband Tim Ezell moved to Madison with his job at Teledyne Brown Engineering. “His goal was to work for NASA, and he has worked there for 27 years,” she said.

A certified public accountant, she works part time for Solvability, which provides accounting systems to government contractors. “I’m also a part-time real estate investor,” she said.

She earned bachelor’s degrees at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina.

The workshop fee is $45, which includes supplies. To register online, visit creativeconn.eventbrite.com. For more information, visit coachmiriam.com.
