Madison rape suspect arrested

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a man in connection with the rape of a 17 year old girl in Madison on Tuesday. 23-year-old Michael Joseph Garza  was arrested Friday afternoon for allegedly sexually assaulting the 17-year-old girl.

According to  Sheriff  investigators, the 17 year old female was attacked around 7:20 p.m. on January 24th outside Hastings Coffee Shop on Highway 72 in Madison. She told investigators she was leaving the building when she was suddenly attacked by an unknown offender.

Garza is charged with attempted rape in the first degree and sexual abuse in the first degree. Both charges carry a $30,000 bond.  He is currently being held in the Madison County Metro Jail.
