Chamber fills vacant position with Cabrera
The Madison Chamber of Commerce has hired Tessy L. Cabrera as the new manager of investor relations.
Cabrera’s responsibilities will include inviting the business and professional community to join the Madison Chamber of Commerce in promoting Madison as a place to live, work and play.
“What I bring to the MCC is enthusiasm and personalized service from 13 years of experience in the tourism industry,” Cabrera said. “This experience will assist me to attract new members and retain current members.”
Cabrera, originally from Peru, said this would be accomplished by communicating and promoting the new professional development sessions, special events and the networking opportunities that the Chamber has to offer.
Cabrera has a bachelor’s degree in tourism administration and a master of science in tourism marketing.
She developed and marketed various travel and tourism workshops, tour packages and cultural events. She has also worked as an income tourism operation agent and tour director.
“She is very professional and we were impressed with her knowledge,” said Lori King-Taylor, executive consultant for the Chamber. “The thing that impressed us most is her passion for excitement and her drive to see our business community be successful.”
King-Taylor said this position will give Cabrera the opportunity to develop her interpersonal, multitasking, and problem solving skills.
Cabrera has traveled extensively in South America, the Caribbean and Europe. She speaks five languages and has also worked as a Spanish/English teacher and Zumba instructor.
“I’m so excited to be part of an organization that genuinely cares for its community, an organization that is looking for ways to make the business community grow through different professional programs, activities and special events,” Cabrera said. “I believe that if we have a strong business community we have more revenue to develop a solid base for city projects benefitting every citizen, whether by schools, transportation or greenways.”
