Bob Jones defeats West Creek, 66-13

The Bob Jones Patriots opened the 2011 campaign with a dominating 66-13 win over the visiting West Creek Coyotes from Clarksville, Tenn.

The Bob Jones Patriots opened the 2011 campaign with a dominating 66-13 win over the visiting West Creek Coyotes from Clarksville, Tenn.

The Patriots piled up 320 yards and 59 points in the first half, allowing West Creek just 64 total yards to put the game away early.  As in last week’s jamboree the Patriots were able to play most of the roster, using four quarterbacks and three kickers on the night.

Bob Jones quick strike offense began scoring early and often.  West Creek’s first play from scrimmage ended with an interception by Drew Davis. The Patriots took just 4 plays and a minute and 10 seconds to move 30 yards with quarterback Jeffrey Moss hitting Nate Richardson with a 12 yard touchdown pass in the corner of the end zone for a 7-0 lead.

West Creek could not move the ball after the ensuing kickoff, and Bob Jones took over after a punt at the 49.  2 plays and 51 yards later Moss again hit Richardson with a scoring pass of 27 yards and a 14-0 lead.

After another punt the Patriots again had a quick touchdown drive, going 66 yards in 5 plays culminating in a Nick Beavers 4 yard run.

On the next possession the Coyotes went for a first down conversion rather than punting but were stopped by the tough Patriot defense.  The Coyotes defense held but kicker Andrew Dunn was able to convert a 31 yard attempt

Beavers scored his second touchdown of the game on a 6 yard run and a 31-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was more of the same with Jemel Harper scoring on a 35 pass from Moss, a Coyote fumble and Harper again scoring on 23 yard strike from Moss.

John Caudle then scored on touchdown runs of 13 and 1 yard for the 59-0 halftime lead.

West Creek finally got on the scoreboard when a blocked field goal was returned for a touchdown by Jalen Thompson.  Jay Rogers completed the scoring for the Patriots with a 2 yard run. Anthony Ledet added an 11 yard touchdown for the Coyotes and the 66-13 final score.

Bob Jones begins the season 1-0 and hosts Hazel Green in the Region 8 opener Friday Sept. 2.
