Local to start Jaycees chapter

One local is intent on bringing a chapter of the Jaycees to town.

Dr. Ryan Davis, who works at Spinecare in Madison, says the area is in need of a civic organization for the 21 to 40 age demographic.

“I am starting the Jaycees with aspirations that we can become a force of good in the community as well as a vehicle through which Madison’s young professionals can develop leadership skills while serving the community,” Davis said.

Davis said joining the local chapter would be a “win-win” situation because not only would it make a positive impact on the community, but will also open doors socially and professionally for its members.

“The Jaycees will also provide its members opportunities for social and business networking,” he said.

Davis needs at least 20 members to get a charter to officially establish the group. Mayor Paul Finley has already given his support of the group.

In a letter addressed to Davis, Finley said he is “glad” to see the organizing effort underway and “heartily endorses both the organization and the developing local chapter.”

Finley said he is familiar with the many valuable services the organization renders to the similar communities and he “fully supports the goals of the Jaycees and look forward anxiously to the development of a strong local chapter.”

The Jaycees’ mission is to provide its active members the opportunity to develop leadership skills by becoming involved in community service projects and programs. The Madison Jaycees will be in the community contacting individuals who would like to take advantage of this opportunity to become a charter member of the new Jaycees chapter. If anyone is interested in joining or wants to learn more about Jaycees, contact Ryan Davis at (334) 221-4164 or by email at RyanDavis@visitspinecare.com.
