Shelby announces $1.6 Million for Huntsville Regional Airport

The grant will provide funding to help Alabama’s regional airports make improvements that are necessary to accommodate those traveling in the state.

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration awarded a total of $1,603,719 to rehabilitate the terminal building at the Huntsville International – Carl T. Jones Field Airport.

“Investing in the infrastructure of Alabama’s regional airports will not only provide the safest and most efficient transportation services for Alabamians, but will also ensure that the area remains desirable for residents and businesses,” said Shelby. “This grant will provide funding to help Alabama’s regional airports make improvements that are necessary to accommodate those traveling to, from, and through our great state.

The grant will provide federal funding for the rehabilitation of the baggage claim area in the airport terminal in order to increase the efficiency and capacity of airport operations as well as enhance passenger comfort in the baggage claim area.
