Drug bust in Madison, Morgan counties

A routine traffic stop by a Decatur patrolman led to an ongoing investigation that has so far recovered a total of 157 pounds of marijuana and $43,000 off the streets.

The bust took the cooperation of the law enforcement agencies in Morgan and Madison County, working together to make the bust a reality.

“They were able to locate where that came from, execute a search warrant and they were able to seize about 70 pounds or so of marijuana along with about $13,000 in cash in Decatur,” said STATC Team Commander Dewayne McCarver.

At that point, the Madison /Morgan County STAC Team continued the investigation which went into the city of Madison.

“Those agents were then able to get a search warrant for the Federal Square Suites in Madison, they executed the search warrant and located approximately another 80 pounds of marijuana and another roughly $30,000 dollars cash,” McCarver said.

The three people who were arrested and charged with drug trafficking are 25-year-old Yondrea Shanea Anderson of California, 21-year-old Kentez Lamario Brown of California and 39-year-old Andre Maurice Jones of Decatur.

“Here in Huntsville that’s humongous,” McCarver said. “It’s an extraordinary amount for an area like Huntsville.”

He said the mid-grade and high-grade marijuana has a street value of $200 to $250,000.

“We know that we got this before it ever got anywhere out to the street you know we took out something at the top level of the pipeline,” he said.
