BJHS demolishes Decatur in opener

Bob Jones vs. Decatur

Bob Jones defeated Decatur 8-0 in the boys' soccer home-opener.

William Artega scored four goals, including three in the first half, to lead Bob Jones to a dominating victory, 8-0, over Decatur in the season-opening boys’ soccer match Tuesday night at Madison City Schools Stadium.

Artega got the Patriots on the board early in the second minute on an assist from Jared Mitchell, and then again in the sixth minute.

Mitchell added his lone goal of the game in the 11th minute to put the Patriots up 3-0 before Artega added his third goal of the half to put the game away.

In the second half, Paul Tassone put one in the back of the net on an assist from Mitchell, followed by goals by Max Isper, Artega and Tyler Rist, as Zach Wroblewski recorded the shutout on the Patriots’ goal.

The Patriots will take on Randolph Thursday at 5 p.m. at the BJHS Turf Field located behind the school.
