Cheerleaders win state championship

The Bob Jones Varsity cheerleaders captured the 6A State Cheerleading Title Saturday, Nov.  20 in Hanceville.

The team has already won the the UCA regional competition which qualifies them for the trip to Orlando to compete in the National Cheerleading Championship.  They are the five-time defending national champions.

“I am extremely proud of how hard these girls have worked,” said Tara Murphy, cheerleading coach.  “We have 11 freshmen on the squad this year plus five other new members.  So, half of the team was not on last year’s national championship squad. The girls have been preparing since March for the trip to Nationals and will going for their 6th straight National Championship.”
