School honors ailing principal
Students and parents at Heritage Elementary walked laps around the school’s track in honor of Principal Dr. Lydia Davenport, who is currently in the hospital being treated for a blood disorder.
The school held Dr. Davenport Day on Nov. 10, to not only to honor her, but to donate blood and plasma to LifeSouth community blood center.
“I think it helps them feel like they’re helping Dr. Davenport,” P.E. teacher Robin Cochran said about the students in her class.
Parents also came out to walk laps with students during their physical education time. Cochrane kept count of how many laps each student walked in her honor.
Debi Peterson, a parent of one of those students gave blood inside the schools gym. She said the day is a great way to honor Davenport.
“I support this cause and those who have helped put it together,” she said.
