Pediatric dentist office comes to Madison

A new dental practice is coming to town.

Madison Pediatric Dentistry is scheduled to open Wednesday, Oct. 6 in the Irwin

Moffett stands in front of his dental clinic, located in the Irwin Square shopping center on Nance Road.

Square shopping center, located off U.S Highway 72.

Burton Moffett, the clinic’s owner, is a graduate from the UAB School of Dentistry. The Fosters, Ala. native recently relocated to Madison from the Birmingham area. He lives in Madison with his wife, Leslie, and daughter, Sarah.

Moffett said Madison is a great town and he has especially noticed that the residents are “community-minded” and care about education.

“The people here are very nice and welcoming,” he said. “Madison has had tremendous growth and we’re excited about becoming a part of the community.”

After graduating from UAB, Moffett spent two years practicing general dentistry and then returned to the school to complete a 2-year pediatric dentistry residency.

“Oral healthcare is an important part of overall healthcare,” Moffett said. “One big thing we try to stress is that it’s important for a child to see a dentist by age 1, so we can begin educating parents on preventive measures.”
