Rain delays no trouble for Madison Academy in sweep

A three-day delay did little to stop Madison Academy’s sweep of West Limestone in the second round of the Class 3A state baseball playoffs.
The top-ranked Mustangs improved to 33-11 overall with 9-2 and 20-1 victories over the Wildcats at home.
Madison Academy will face third-ranked White Plains on the road in the third round.
After winning the opening game of the best-of-three series Friday night, the second game was postponed with the Mustangs leading 8-0.
Unable to play Saturday due to storms, the Mustangs picked up right where they left off three days later with 12 more runs to complete the sweep.
Jordan Kerr led Madison Academy with a pair of home runs. He finished with four RBIs.
The Mustangs also got home runs from Ian Rice, Clayton Palicki, Ben Seabrook and Stafford Booth to help Madison Academy end West Limestone’s season.
Jared Brinson, Booth and Rice drove in three runs each.
Madison Academy’s Stafford Booth earned the win. West Limestone failed to get a hit off four different Mustang pitchers.
