    All month BJHS football season tickets now on sale Bob Jones High School Touchdown Club is selling season tickets for the 2003 football season. Tickets are $40 each and include a reserved seat near mid-field for all non-playoff home varsity, junior varsity and freshman games.     Shakespeare classes Creative Learning Connection will offer a series of Shakespeare classes for students ages 12 and up. A play will be introduced, parts will be assigned and the students will read the play. Cost per play is $10 and includes a copy of the play. Classes will be held at Creative Learning Connection, 200 Main Street in Madison. Pre-registration is required. Contact Cathy Jaime at 325-3305 for more information or to register. The tragedy "King Lear" is scheduled for Aug. 5 and Aug. 12, from 1:30-1:30 p.m. The comedy "Twelfth Night" is scheduled for Aug. 19 and Aug. 26, from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

    July 31-Aug. 9 BJHS Gold Cards on sale The Bob Jones High School Touch Down Club, along with football players and their parents, will be selling BJHS Patriots Gold Cards July 31-Aug 9. For just $10, a gold card can be purchased and it is good for a year. In return, cardholders can cash in on discounts offered by Madison merchants and restaurants. If you don't know a BJHS football player, contact Will Rasely at 772-3426 to purchase a gold card.
    August 2 Madison Public Library to host 'Librpalooza' party Librpalooza (lee-bray-pa-loo'-sa): 1.) An extraordinary or unusual literary thing or event. 2.) An exceptional example of a good book. 3.) A gathering of local young adults celebrating the end of summer with live music and pizza at the Madison Public Library.
    The library will host an end of summer celebration for teens that includes three local student bands. The celebration acknowledges this summer's Teen Read Awards, a program that rewards young adults for reading during the summer school break.
    The event is held in honor of the library's 45 summer student volunteers, all of whom have contributed more than 500 hours of community service to the library since June.
    Musical guests are punk rockers "Degenerate," classic rockers "Just Trouble" and alternative rockers "Yaba Rock." Domino's Pizza and All-Needz Rental are event sponsors providing refreshments and equipment. Librpalooza is free and open to young adults ages 13-18.     BJHS Band yard sale to be held The Bob Jones High School Band will hold a yard sale on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 6 a.m.-3 p.m. to support the marching band, color guard and dance team performing expenses for the coming year. There will be 170 families contributing to this sale. Items will include: clothing, household items, books, videos, music cds, furniture, toys and more. The BJHS Band performs at football games, marching competitions at Jacksonville State, Hartselle and Hoover. The band also will participate in two parades this fall.     Aug. 9 BJHS 10-year reunion The Bob Jones High School Class of 1993 is planning its 10-year reunion. It is tentatively planned for Aug. 9 at the Huntsville Hilton Hotel. For more information, call Julie Clift at (256) 837-8292 or at BobJonesReunion@hotmail.com.
    Aug. 16 Dance and cheer clinic to be held at Dublin Park The Huntsville Flight will conduct a dance and cheer clinic on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Dublin Park. Kids ages 5-15 are invited to attend and the cost is $35.
    The clinic includes instruction in cheers, stunts and dancing from Team Turbulence members, the official Interactive Squad of the Flight. There will also be an appearance by the team's mascot, Cosmo. Each clinic attendee will receive an official Turbo kids T-shirt and will be able to perform a halftime routine during one of the Flight's 2003-04 home games.     Divers safety day planned Rock Divers, Inc. will host a diver safety day on Saturday, Aug. 16, beginning at 9 a.m. A basic skills course will be offered and help from instructors and dive master will be available. The cost is $25 per diver for the day, $5 of which will be donated to Divers Alert Network. The first 50 divers to register will receive a free t-shirt. Rock Divers, Inc. and Southeastern Divers, Inc. are cosponsoring the event.
    Aug. 18-19 Swim team tryouts scheduled The Madison Swim Association will hold tryouts for its USA swim teams, the Madison Titans and Madison Spartans, August 18-19, 4-6 p.m. each day, at the Dublin Park indoor pool. Those persons whose last names begin with A-L will tryout on Monday, Aug. 18 and those whose last names begin with M-Z will tryout on Tuesday, Aug. 19. Minimum requirements include the ability to swim all four strokes at beginning level and the ability to practice for at least one hour, swimming 25-yard laps, on and off during most of the practice session. Those selected for the team will be posted on the website and at the Dublin Park indoor pool on Wednesday, Aug. 20. The first meeting of the new season for parents, new and former swimmers will be held on August 26 at First Baptist Church of Madison in the fellowship hall, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Registration will occur at that meeting and team handbooks will be distributed.
    Aug. 31 Keel-Whitaker family reunion to be held The Keel-Whitaker family reunion will be held at the Keel Mountain Fire Hall on Keel Mountain beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31. Please bring your favorite dish to share. For more information, call P.B. Keel at 772-9716.

    Madison African-American Alliance Group (MAAG) MAAG meets every first Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Madison Municipal Complex, Conference Room130. The main goals of the MAAG organization are to raise community awareness of neighborhood revitalization and historic preservation, and to promote inclusiveness and diversity within our communities and neighborhoods.     Providence Women's Club of Madison The Providence Women's Club of Madison meets on the second Wednesday of the month at the Heritage Plantation Clubhouse on County Line Road. The club, chartered in 2001, is a member of the General Federal of Women's Clubs and is dedicated to community service with interests in arts, education, conservation, international and public affairs, and home life.
    Madison Art League The Madison Art League meets on the third Monday every month at 7 p.m. at the Clay House Museum on Main Street. The Madison Art League is a group of local artist dedicated to the promotion and education of creative and original work. Everyone is invited to come and network.     Optimist Club The Optimist Club is dedicated to supporting the youth of Madison. Activities include Safety Optimist Style (SOS), which promotes safety to young citizens, oratorical and essay contests, bicycle safety rodeo and scholarship programs.     La Leche League La Leche League helps mothers worldwide to breast feed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement and information to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of baby and mother.     Madison Senior Citizen Center swimming Madison seniors can swim at the Madison Senior Citizen Center at 1282 Hughes Road. The pool is open from 9 to 10 a.m., Monday through Thursday.
